This sweet baby boy’s first birthday session had such a charming, timeless feel. With a mix of family portraits, a classic cake smash, and some sweet vintage outfits brought in by his mom, the entire session was a fun little celebration of his first year.
We started with family photos, keeping things relaxed and natural so the focus stayed on connection. These early moments are always some of my favorites—parents holding onto their baby just a little bit tighter, soaking in how quickly the first year has gone by.
I love keeping things soft and neutral, and I intentionally use a clean white background as often as possible so all the focus stays on baby. It’s also why I always take time to photograph a few portraits that really showcase the birthday baby.
Once we moved into the cake smash portion of the session, his personality really came through. I loved how he literally dove right into the cake face first!
