Temecula Pregnancy Photographer | In-Studio Maternity Photos
I recently reintroduced maternity sessions after previously offering them outdoors. I now focus exclusively on in-studio sessions for a more relaxed experience without worrying about weather, wind, traffic, or parking. In-studio maternity sessions are a beautiful way to celebrate pregnancy in a timeless, simple, and elegant setting. With soft lighting, clean backgrounds, and a relaxed pace, in-studio maternity photography keeps the focus where it belongs—on the mom-to-be and her moment in this journey of motherhood.
One of the biggest benefits of a studio maternity session is the versatility it offers. These sessions can be styled to feel classic and minimal or more styled and creative depending on your vision, whether you prefer a fitted gown that highlights your baby bump or something soft and flowy for a more ethereal look, or some of both.
Your maternity session can be tailored entirely to your story. Some moms choose to do individual portraits only, others prefer to include their partner for shared portraits that capture connection, excitement, and anticipation as you prepare to welcome your baby.
If you have other children, they're welcome to join in too. Family-centered images are often some of the most meaningful, capturing siblings as they snuggle or kiss the baby bump. It’s a beautiful way to document this transition as your family grows.
I have a small selection of maternity dresses available in-studio for clients to use, and I can also help with styling suggestions. If you’re looking for something specific, I’m happy to source additional dresses or outfit options upon request.
Studio maternity sessions are designed to feel calm and unhurried. You don’t need to worry about weather, lighting conditions, or distractions—everything is controlled so you can simply relax and enjoy the experience. Posing guidance is provided throughout, so you’ll never feel unsure of what to do.
If you’re looking for a Temecula maternity photographer who offers natural, timeless studio maternity photos, I would love to work with you. My studio is in Menifee and I welcome moms-to-be and families from throughout Southern California.
Here are some tips for maternity sessions:
WHEN TO BOOK:
I recommend booking at least two weeks in advance, with your session ideally scheduled for between 28–34 weeks of pregnancy. This timing works best because most clients are comfortably showing at this stage while still feeling good enough for posing and movement. It also helps avoid waiting too late in pregnancy when swelling, fatigue, or early arrivals can make scheduling more difficult. Booking at least two weeks in advance ensures availability and allows time to plan styling and session details.
WHAT TO WEAR:
I recommend aiming for a look that feels timeless, soft, and flattering. Most importantly, wear what makes you feel comfortable and confident. If you have specific styles, colors, or sizing preferences, feel free to let me know and I’d be happy to order additional options for you. We can also keep things simple and use a sheet to wrap around your baby bump. Otherwise you're welcome to bring around 1-3 outfits. If you’d like to wear a dress, fitted and/or flowy styles are perfect for maternity photos. For a more minimal look, a fitted bodysuit (with or without a sweater like the example attached), a sports bra with jeans, or a button-down top with jeans all work well. Anything that shows off your belly should work great.
Neutral tones like white, cream, beige, blush, sage, or muted blue tend to photograph best and keep the focus on you. Black is also a timeless option. I recommend nude-colored or white underwear along with a sports bra or strapless bra, but I can always retouch lines if needed.
If your spouse will be joining you, I recommend dress pants or jeans with a button-down shirt or polo (something simple that coordinates with what you'll be wearing)
HAIR AND NAILS:
Treating yourself to getting your hair and nails done is a great way to feel polished and photo-ready.
SHOES:
My studio is typically a shoe-free space to keep the floors clean for the little ones I often work with (crawling babies, cake smashes, etc.), so I usually recommend going barefoot. If you’d prefer to wear shoes, simple options like Converse, boots, or dressy shoes work well—just let me know ahead of time so I can make a few adjustments to protect the floors.
